Mr Play Review

Mr Play opened as a casino in 2017, immediately proving popular with its playful moustachioed approach.

Industry relationships were strong from the start, and launching with an excellent suite of numerous games from well loved developers was a real statement of intent. The number of games has already passed the 700 mark and they are still a relatively young brand.

The sportsbook followed two years later in 2019, fleshing out the offering and becoming a multi-product gambling site, appealing to a wider range of customers.

The book runs on the BtoBet platform thanks to their links with Aspire Global, the white label provider for the brand, so like with the casino, the sportsbook opened ready to offer real quality to its customers with loads of markets and interesting betting features.

This gambling website punches well above its weight, keeping things simple but never failing to entertain.

Desktop Website

Mr Play Desktop Sportsbook

If you were a novice gambler, someone who only gambles occasionally, or just someone who likes life to be easy, then Mr Play’s website will be a perfect fit.

There is nothing complicated about this site, even the sportsbook with all of its information and complex sports/leagues/matches search options have been laid out clearly and intuitively so that the user isn’t bamboozled just by looking at them.

It’s fast too, especially when working within the interface itself (as opposed to page loads, which are certainly not sluggish either), with actions like switching between sports happening lighting quick.

One design flaw is that when selecting a sport at the bottom of the A-Z list, you obviously have to scroll down to it, but you then have to manually scroll back up to the top to see the selections. It’s a little thing but if you plan to use the site a lot it could get old fast.

Apart from that though it’s a very well designed, user friendly site with everything a sports bettor and/or casino player could need to enjoy themselves.

They have kept the interface all about the fun stuff, with everything account related hidden under a menu button. This keeps every page neat and relevant, but at the same time access to account features like safe gambling tools, help, transaction history etc. are only a click away.

Mr Play are certainly making good use of all their platform provider, BtoBet, has to offer, and can be proud of the site they offer their customers.

Mobile Website

Mr PLay MobileYou can use Mr Play via a device using the mobile optimised site or the apps that is now available. Both options are more or less the same thing in terms of user experience.

Continuing the theme from the main site, the Mr Play mobile site/app is a dream come true for anyone sick and tired of apps trying to be clever.

It’s simple, user friendly, and it does what it says on the tin – with a bit more style as well to be fair. It’s not a boring site by any stretch of the imagination.

It works particularly well for anyone who frequently jumps between products, as there is instant access to the casino, live casino, or sports book whenever you want it thanks to an intelligent header menu that only appears when needed. It disappears unless you are scrolling.

It also has a ‘back to top’ button that pops up if you have scrolled for a while which saves a lot of time, especially when browsing casino games.

That same menu button exists on the mobile site too, which keeps the screen free for only betting or gaming related content.

The bet slip will show up as you make bets and from there you can alter wagers etc before minimising it again, which is great for quick access when trying to cash out.

In terms of speed the site is perhaps a little better than average, so it shouldn’t cause you any problems.

Casino and Gaming

Mr Play Casino

The Mr Play casino is a simple affair, but that is no bad thing. Players who pay little mind to the way their online casino looks and prefer to cut straight through the noise and get to the games will love it.

All of the games can be found in either the casino, live casino, or scratchcard area of the site, and there are more than 700 of them all told. In these times when many other casinos boast several thousand, you might think that is a small number, but honestly, how many slots do you play on a regular basis?

Mr Play has more than enough to last you the year and the list is updated regularly with new releases too, while older, tired, or rarely used games are quietly put back in their box to stop the site becoming bloated. There are some exclusives too thanks to the link with Pariplay.

There isn’t much assistance available if you want to have a browse, the limited game categories are quite broad, but there is a search function for finding specifics.

  • Slots – Hundreds upon hundreds of titles big and small await, with staple developers like NetEnt, IGT, Microgaming, and NextGen featuring amongst others.
  • Table Games – A strong section for the casual table game player with enough varieties of roulette, blackjack, baccarat, and poker to keep you occupied. If casino table games your main interest though, there are better places.
  • Scratchcards – More than 22 titles live in this section of the site, with Royal Wedding and Hit the Bank being favourites of ours.
  • Jackpots – This isn’t really Mr Play’s selling point, but there are a handful of titles available with jackpots built in. Not the place for fans of progressives though.
  • Live Casino – This is another Evolution powered live casino, so expect loads of blackjack and roulette variations, plus fun and whacky game show style game and more. As a bonus, Authentic also have their live casino available here.

All in all, Mr Play’s casino offering is perfect for the casual player who is looking for a quick session and to have fun. More seriously minded players might prefer somewhere more comprehensive and with a focus on table games.

SportsBook and Odds

Mr Play Odds

Probably not the most obvious sports betting brand, but you might be surprised by what you find here, especially given the sportsbook only launched in 2019.

It’s powered by BtoBet which is a huge help, as they have one of the best sports betting platforms in the industry, especially when it comes to live betting, but we will get onto that shortly.

The betting options are a little fewer here than at some of the bigger brands perhaps, but only by a handful, and you won’t be missing out on any major sports like football, cricket or tennis, it will be more obscure stuff.

Horse and greyhound racing are both available, both mainly geared towards UK and Irish races but internationals can also be spotted sometimes.

There are special or novelty bets available, as well as options like Esports, bandy, and futsal, but this shouldn’t be considered a area of expertise for Mr Play. They are nice options to have but you won’t find market depth in these sorts of categories that can’t be beaten elsewhere.

Market depth varies depending on the sport and league, with English football markets available on the National League and even professional development matches, whereas sports like rugby are limited to the more widely followed leagues and competitions.

This is to be expected really, and if anything, Mr Play should be applauded for offering such range and depth so early on in their sportsbook career.

Odds can be set to fractions, decimals and American, and they have surprisingly low margins in a lot of areas. They are more competitive on the most popular sports in general, but this is a dynamic area of the business that is ever changing.

Live Betting

Mr Play Live Betting

There’s no live streaming (apart from esports), but that aside BtoBet offers one of the best live betting platforms in existence straight out of the box, so Mr Play are well placed in this department.

The key to the success of this in-play betting service is the combination of simple design making navigation and browsing selections easy, and excellent features such as the match graphic and match stats adding value.

They are visually impressive and offer genuine insight into the game too, which can help when deciding what to bet on, as well as being fun to use.

There is always plenty of live action available to bet on spanning a variety of sports, not just the obvious ones, and you can even make common bets from the overview screen without opening event view.

Betting features like fast markets and the Play Bot also add extra purchase when it comes to live betting, but we will cover them individually in the next section.

The in-play interface seems to solve every problem before it reveals itself. For example, it’s possible to bet in event view at the same time as viewing a minimised version of the overview screen, so you can track every live event currently being played as jump between them without having to go backwards and forwards.

It’s a thoroughly well designed betting tool and if anyone has done a better job we are yet to find it.

Betting Features

Although the sports book has many betting features, the casino side of things is a simpler affair, so there isn’t really anything for casino players on this list.

Playbot

Mr Play PlaybotThis is essentially an automated tipping service.

It is of course not making any guarantees, but it crunches numbers and stats to come up with bets that sound good in theory.

You might be wondering why a bookie would do this for you, but you needn’t worry, it’s not a scam. As long as you are betting a bookie is happy – they take bets on both sides remember, so this is just an incentive to keep customers happy and maybe help them balance the books.

You can set the bot up to show you tips based on certain stats and using specific bet types too, so it’s a tailored betting tool to some degree.

The tool will explain why the bet has been recommended to you, so you can understand the reasoning before you make your decision.

Have a play with it and see what you think.

Fast Markets

Mr Play Fast MarketsThis is an in-play betting feature that creates markets that will be settled in minutes.

For example, you can bet that a corner will be given in the next 1 or 5 minutes, which makes those few minutes much more exciting than they otherwise would have been.

This is a volatile betting market too, so you need to take bets quickly if you want them, because they don’t stick around for long.

It also allows punters to bet on events based on their own analysis of the game they are watching; if you know a particular player’s tells when they are getting wound up, you might bet that a card will be given in the next five minutes, for example.

Battles

Mr Play BattlesThis is an interesting one, no doubt taking inspiration from the slot tournaments offered at many sites.

Battles at Mr Play are available to sports bettors too though, so punters can place bets on a pre-determined event and the top three performers at the end of it win a prize.

This is often a bonus of some kind with no wagering attached, but the site can offer anything they want. It’s free to enter too.

There’s a leaderboard so you can track your progress, and only the first £1 of each bet made counts towards your score, which keeps it fair for those betting smaller amounts and stops the battle being dominated by those with deeper pockets.

Deposits and Withdrawal

Banking Method Max/Min Deposit Max/Min Withdrawal Notes
Debit Card £10 £10 Instant to 6 days
PayPal £10 £10 Instant - 2 days, 2.5% fee
Skrill £10 £10 Instant - 2 days
Paysafecard £10 No Withdrawal
Bank Transfer £10 £10 2-6 Days

£10 limits are pretty standard across the industry, and this keeps things affordable for all but the smallest of bankrolls.

Being a brand which is available across Europe there are also many more payment options available to non UK players, so anyone that regularly crosses borders can take note.

Betting limits shouldn’t cause many gamblers problems, but the maximum winnings per bet is only £90k, so sports bettors should be aware of this if placing bets with very long odds or high stakes.

The process of depositing and withdrawing is hassle free and there are no fees to contend with other than if using Paypal, where a 2.5% levy is applied at both ends. Ouch.

Customer Support

Mr Play ContactWe all hope not to need it, but inevitably there are times when you will need to speak to someone behind the scenes, so customer support is a huge factor when choosing an online gambling site.

Happily, Mr Play have a pretty good setup.

It’s not a 24 hour service but the team work between 8am and midnight which will cover most people, especially sports bettors (not many matches after midnight), and email is always an option in the down time.

Live chat is always answered quickly in our experience, and while the staff don’t waste time using flowery language or emojis like some other sites do, they are very efficient, friendly and helpful nonetheless.

You might not need them though, since there is a Help section and an FAQ full of useful information and instructions. Both open in new windows too, so you can refer to the answer while following the instructions. Helpful.

Neither are searchable which is one minor improvement that could be made, but that really is critique for critique’s sake. The support here is very good.

Innovation is the name of the game at Mr Play.

It isn’t a site that tries to be all things to all people, instead, it ensures the two gambling products it does offer are faultless, and backs them up with interesting extras you may never have seen before.

Playbot, fast markets and the battles are exactly what we are talking about. These are fun betting features that can be enjoyed by anyone, and add extra entertainment when it is wanted.

It’s not exactly a Mecca for promotions and offers, although they do exist, but since the site offers good value odds in the first place it isn’t a huge issue for sports bettors. Casino players might take umbrage with the limited existing customer bonuses though.

If you are sick and tired of the big names, then give Mr Play a go, because the gambling site shows huge promise for its age, and already provides an enviable service.

About Mr Play

Aspire GlobalThe Mr Play brand is a white label of Aspire Global, a Malta based company that runs Karamba amongst others, but also offers its services as a white label provider. The business actually has a separate company for UK trade, AG Communications, but it is all ultimately the same organisation.

The brand itself is owned by Marketplay Ltd, however, as of 2021 Aspire own 49% of Marketplay’s business. If this is making you dizzy don’t worry, it doesn’t have any impact on the customer experience. Just think of Mr Play as a joint venture between two companies.

Mr Play only launched in the UK in 2017, originally purely as a casino operator, but a sportsbook was added to the site in 2019 to make it a more complete gambling site.

This was a good decision as it made the brand much more relevant to a huge number of gamblers who enjoy slots as well as sports betting, and turned the site into an all purpose destination for many.

The brand hasn’t done much in the way of sponsorship to get its name out there, relying instead on word of mouth and online advertising.
